Gigantum Client Install

This assignment has two parts.

Create a gigantum account (due Thu. Sep. 3 , 11:59 pm EST)

Create a gigantum account and share your gigantum account name with us on blackboard so that we can make you a collaborator on this project. This will allow you to push branches (other than master) to complete the second part of the project. You can create the account on https://gigantum.com.

Push a branch to the gigantum hub (due Tues. Sep. 8, 11:59 pm EST)

Install the gigantum desktop (or gigantum client). Instructions at https://docs.gigantum.com/docs. Running in the client, go to the Gigantum Hub tab and you should see and import project assignment-0-0-gigantum-client. If you have not been made a collaborator yet, the project won’t appear in the hub tab. You can import using the link gigantum.com/jhupp/assignment-0-0-gigantum-client. . Click through to the project main page and then make a branch named with your gigantum username.

  • my user name is randal. I would create a branch randal. Push this branch to the gigantum hub. We will be able to see the branch and that will complete your assignment. You can only push back a branch if you are a collaborator, so you must have completed the first part of the assignment and the TAs must have added you to the project.

Potential Pitfalls

Users of Windows Home will not be able to install docker. Windows Home is a decapitated version of the operating system that leaves out many features. If you are running Windows home, we recommend that you upgrade to Windows Education. This will give you access to docker and all the tools built off of docker, including Gigantum. Students are entitled to one free copy of Windows 10 Education via http://jhu.onthehub.com.

If this not possible, please let the TAs know and we will discuss potential outcomes.
